Argentina v France

A game that had everything. Messi, the best player in the world, got his two goals. He was everywhere, always looked a threat. Argentina sat back a bit second half and France came back late with Mbappe scoring a hat trick equaling Geoff Hurst. Argentina had been completely in control and well above France. The team talk at half time had changed things but, France never had a shot on goal before the penalty. Messi nearly won it in extra time before Mbappe again squared the game. France were getting stronger and stronger as the game wore on. Both sides squandering late opportunities to avert penalties. As the game concluded and the championship was to be decided from the spot, Emi Martinez kept upsetting the penalty takers and it was surprising the referee didn’t have stronger words with him. He had already made great saves in the game and his first penalty save was from Kingsley Coman. Tchouameni then missed. A lot of pressure but Argentina held their nerve to win the match and the tournament. Messi is up there with the best.
